A Space Inspired by Children

At Tower House Nursery, our outdoor classroom isn’t just a new building – it’s a new way of learning, playing, and connecting with nature. Designed with our 2–3 year olds in mind, it gives children their own space to explore, create, and feel at home, right in the heart of our garden.

We’ve always believed in the power of outdoor learning. Now, with this dedicated space, we’ve taken that belief one step further – giving our youngest children a warm, secure, and inspiring environment that truly feels like theirs.

Learning Through Play, Indoors and Out

One of the joys of the new classroom is how easily it connects with the outdoors. Wide-opening doors mean children can come and go freely, following their natural curiosity – whether it’s heading into the garden to collect leaves or curling up with a story inside.

This flexibility has made a noticeable difference in the children’s confidence. They’re more independent, more engaged, and visibly more relaxed when they have the freedom to choose how and where they spend their time. It’s a reminder that when we trust children to lead the way, they flourish.

A Thoughtful Design That Supports Every Day

From the layout to the smallest detail, the space has been created to support a child’s daily rhythm – quiet time, group time, messy play, meals, toileting, and all the in-betweens. It gives our team the flexibility to meet every child’s needs in a calm, nurturing setting.

Parents often comment on how settled their child seems after spending time in the outdoor classroom. We see it too – children feel ownership of the space and take pride in helping look after it. That sense of belonging is exactly what we hoped for.

Breathing Life Into a Forgotten Corner

Before the build, the classroom site was a quiet part of the garden we didn’t use often. Now it’s full of life – colourful coats hung neatly under the canopy, children chatting as they plant seeds in the raised bed, and laughter drifting through the trees.

It’s not just a classroom – it’s a transformation. What was once an unused space is now a daily part of our learning journey.

Thank You to Outside In Garden Rooms

We’re so grateful to Outside In Garden Rooms for making this possible. Their team took care of everything – from planning to completion – with care, professionalism, and a real understanding of how children use space. They listened to what we needed, and they delivered something truly special.

The result is more than we imagined: a beautiful, practical, and nurturing place that already feels like part of the nursery’s soul. We’re proud to share it with our families – and even more proud of how the children have taken to the new space.
